The Xtreme Sprint Series moved to Georgian Downs on Friday night featuring a $7,000 five-eighths-of-a-mile dash over a wet oval starring Countyline Cam. The series is open to
pacers, four years old and upwards that have started in an $8,000 or less claiming event at a racetrack in Ontario after August 31, 2010.
Countyline Cam and driver Aaron Byron converted from the pocket to win the $7,000 division by two and three-quarter lengths in 1:10.3 over pacesetter Bumblebee Road and Isaac Waxman. Windham Hanover and Scott Zeron came on for third.
Countyline Cam paid $5.60 to win as the 9-5 second choice. The five-year-old son of Cambest-Amber Taaka, a winner of three races in 27 starts and $27,890 this year, is trained by Mike Sinclair for owner Ron Chevrier of Chelmsford, Ont. The bay gelding finished second in his first series division at Georgian on Oct. 29 and was third at Kawartha Downs on Nov. 2.
The series will move to Flamboro Downs for the next half-mile sprint on Sunday, Nov. 7 before heading to Western Fair Raceway for another half-mile event and Kawartha Downs for a five-eighths-of-a-mile sprint, both on Tuesday, Nov. 9. The top nine point earners from the Xtreme Sprint Series will advance to the $20,000 championship, a five-eighths-of-a-mile dash at Georgian Downs on the following Tuesday, Nov. 16.
