The betting public put a lot of faith in Bestofthebunch in Monday’s $7,500 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the gelding passed the test with flying colours.
Bruce Richardson wasted no time in sending Bestofthebunch to the lead from Post 4 and the gelding sped through panels of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:27 before using a :29.3 kicker to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Tendtowin in 1:56.3. Button Up tagged along to finish third.
Tim Myers trains the four-year-old son of Artistic Fella-Terinas Best for owner Boris Laus of South Woodslee, ON. The victory was the ninth of the season – and the 15th to date – for the career winner of $115,298.
