Pacers hailing from the Ron Matheson barn dominated the first half of the Saturday afternoon program at Charlottetown Driving Park. After just six of 14 races, the local trainer had already checked off three winners.

Matheson worked out the winning trip for three-year-old Allamerican Native filly Pictonian Sapphire (2:06.4) in the second race before scoring back-to-back victories in the fifth and sixth races. Sounding (2:01), a seven-year-old Hunterstown gelding, and the four-year-old son of Mcardle, Largo Hall (2:02.1), each won their respective assignments for Matheson.

Matheson’s Saturday training triple bumped is seasonal win tally up to 34 and earnings to $56,889. The veteran horseman has sent out 468 winners over the course of his career while earning $739,909 in purses.

Kenny Arsenault, Gary Chappell and Ken Murphy each drove three winners on the program.
