Despite being saddled with post 8, Buttermilk Hanover ($4.70) delivered as the 6-5 favourite in Wednesday evening's (Nov. 20) featured $10,500 Preferred 2 Handicap Pace for fillies and mares at Flamboro Downs.

The six-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover floated into sixth behind a :28 first quarter from 17-1 pacesetter Twice An Angel (Travis Cullen) before Robert Shepherd angled her third-over with five-eighths to go. Buttermilk Hanover followed in a live outer tier past the half in :57.3 and then fanned four-wide en route to three-quarters in 1:26.

On the final turn, Buttermilk Hanover circled boldly, and she struck the front in the final 150 yards before accelerating away from the three-wide Top Royal (J Harris) to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.3. Significance (Colin Kelly) rallied for third after pacesetter Twice An Angel was engulfed in upper stretch.

Melissa Lamoureux trains 23-time winner Buttermilk Hanover, who now has won four of her last five starts, for 8113564 Canada Ltd. and Jeffrey Boyd.
