Itrustyou Sets Record At The Meadows; Palone & Burke Dominate

Itrustyou thwarted an early bid from Sam Hill and cruised home in a track record 1:49.2 in Tuesday’s $18,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Although Itrustyou left outside Sam Hill, the five-year-old Third Straight-Dynamic Lady got the jump on his rival, parked him and disposed of him down the backside. When no other challengers emerged, Itrustyou rolled him at 3-5 for Dave Palone, downing the pocket-sitting Carols Comet by 2-1/2 lengths, with D Mac third. It was the fastest mile ever by an older gelding at The Meadows, knocking a tick from the mark held jointly by Lotsa Power and, ironically, Sam Hill.

Ron Burke trains Itrustyou, who now boasts $543,196 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and RTC Stables.

Palone drove six winners — five for Burke — on the 16-race card.
