Rock Me Amastreos had an inauspicious debut for trainer Art Balson one week ago at Kawartha Downs, but he made up for it by grabbing a win in today’s follow-up effort

at the Fraserville oval.

After getting parked every step of the way and finishing eighth in last week’s assignment, Rock Me Amastreos was allowed to sit fourth in the early stages of today’s task. He watched Rock The Wind and Zambuca Gass battle to the quarter pole in :27.2, and those two continued to go at each other to the half in :56.2. Kyle Balson had Rock Me Amastreos on the move going to the half, and when he pulled the trigger in the third quarter his pacer took off. They were on top by a pair of lengths at the three-quarter pole in 1:24, and a :28-second closing panel helped the cruise to victory over Rock The Wind, who was 8-1/2 lengths in arrears, in 1:52. Third prize went to Oliver Jackson.

Owned and bred by David Snowden of Bowmanville, ON, Rock Me Amastreos improved his 2011 record to 3-5-3 in 30 starts with the win. The four-year-old son of Astreos-Queens Arms has banked $124,380 to date.
