Chase Brings Racing To The Classroom

Chase Graham's teacher and classmates may not have known about the youngster's love of everything Standardbred, but a recent school project has definitely changed that.

Chase's mother, Jennifer, has explained to Trot Insider that the eight-year-old recently came home from school with a craft assignment that he had to work on. Just like the rest of the friends in his class, Chase had been tasked with drawing all his favourite things inside the letter of his first name. Different likes were covered within the big 'C', but, if you know Chase, who is the son of trainer Jeff Graham, you know that Standardbreds and harness racing would definitely be reserved some space.

A photo of Chase's big C school project appears below, and it contains images of both a Standardbred in sulky at the Little Brown Jug and a page from TROT Magazine.

"Chase is great with animals and loves playing hockey in his spare time," said Jennifer, who founded the South Western Ontario Standardbred Horse Show and is also vice president of the Ontario Standardbred Horse Show. "His favourite racehorse is Deadly Action. His favourite track announcer is Shannon 'Sugar' Doyle.

"Chase loves his mini, 'Elmo.' He worked really hard to save up enough money to buy his own race bike."

Images of Elmo with Chase in the sulky, and of Chase atop Deadly Action appear below.
