Returning to B.C. with trainer-driver Rod Therres after spending some time on the Ontario racing scene, Primary Purpose took control of the nine-horse field from Post 3 while Trust The Artist and trainer-driver Scott Knight settled in behind from Post 4. Primary Purpose led the way past fractions of :27, :57.2, 1:26, but Trust The Artist was full of late pace and unleashed a :27.4 final frame to get up for the victory in 1:54 flat. Clintons Escape (Tim Brown) was trainer Keith Clark's 20th top three finisher this weekend.

Trust The Artist earned his seventh win in 20 starts this year and pushed his seasonal earnings over the $50,000 mark for owner Mike McAllister of Beaumont, Alta. The seven-year-old son of Real Artist-Abreachoftrust is just over $1,000 shy of the half-million-dollar mark in career earnings.

He paid $4.80 to win as the bettor's choice.
