International Stallion Stakes (ISS) action continues and will conclude with The Red Mile’s Saturday, October 8 program, with four divisions of the ISS for two-year-old pacing fillies and four divisions of the ISS for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings
Bluegrass winner Loreenas Ruffian starts from post one in the first division. Trained by Charlie Norris, the filly by Mcardle, out of the Ruffstuff Baker mare Shes A Ruff One, went wire to wire in 1:52 over a 'good' track in her $73,000 Bluegrass division. Winning four of nine starts this season, she has earned $92,967 for owners Leonard Buckner, Rebecca Ewing, and Charlie Norris.
Favoured in her Bluegrass split last week, Everyones Watching also races in the first division. By Artiscape from the Rocknroll Hanover mare Burnett Blue Chip, the winner of one in seven starts finished sixth as the even-money choice behind World Apart. Owned by Riverview Racing, Deo Volente Farms, Crawford Farms Racing and Steven Wienick and trained by Tony Alagna, she has earned $102,468 this season.
Someomensomewhere, who was second to Loreenas Ruffian in the Bluegrass, will race from post four in the second division. The winner of one race in eight starts has earned $70,521 for owners Nick Surick Stable LLC and Kdm Stables Corp. Erv Miller trains the daughter of Somebeachsomewhere, out of the Western Hanover mare Omen Hanover.
Defeated as the 1-9 favourite by Roaring To Go in 1:50.4, Idyllic Beach returns to race from post three in the third ISS division. The Jimmy Takter-trained daughter of Somebeachsomewhere from the American Ideal mare Idyllic has six wins to her credit in nine starts, including the $427,000 Shes A Great Lady and $246,000 Kentuckiana Stakes. She has earned $520,512 for owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Brixton Medical Ab and Marvin Katz.
Against Idyllic Beach is neighbour World Apart, the Linda Toscano-trained daughter of Art Major from the Rocknroll Hanover mare Polar Opposition. She draws in after a 1:53.4 off-the-pace win at 3-1. A winner of four races in nine starts, she has earned $102,220 for owners South Mountain Stables, Bay’s Stable, Little E LLC and Radio Racing Stable. She’ll start from post two.
Roaring To Go competes in the final filly division from post five. Trained by Kevin Lare, she won after sitting a pocket trip to Idyllic Beach, pacing home in :26.4 to win at 6-1. She has won five races of 11 this season, amassing $209,886 in earnings for owner Frank Chick.
Awash, winning a division of Bluegrass in 1:53.3 from off the pace, starts from post six. By Somebeachsomewhere, out of the Jeremes Jet mare Apogee Hanover, she has won two races in nine, earning $141,845 for owner Bradley Grant and trainer Tony Alagna.
Nancy Johansson sends Jk Jazzitup also in the final division, making his career debut off of three qualifiers. Recently pacing in 1:53.2 with a :27.3 final quarter at Lexington, the filly by American Ideal, out of the Art Major mare Jk Allthatjazz, draws post seven. She’s owned by 3 Brothers Stables.
Division one of the ISS for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings features Odds On Delray, the son of Somebeachsomewhere from the Dragon Again mare My Little Dragon. Beaten as the 6-5 favourite in a $66,000 Bluegrass split in 1:51.2, the Tony Alagna trainee will start from post three. Winning three races in nine starts, he has earned $87,256 for owner Odds On Racing.
Group two attracts Blood Line off a 1:52.1 victory in a $66,000 Bluegrass division. Sent off the 6-5 favourite, the Jimmy Takter-trained son of Somebeachsomewhere, out of the Western Ideal mare Blood Diamond, went wire to wire and won by five lengths over Normandy Beach, who will start from post five. Winning two of eight starts this year, Blood Line has earned $112,572 for owner Diamond Creek Racing. He’ll race from post two.
Rock The Boat, off an 18-1 win in 1:53.3 in his Bluegrass division, competes against fellow Bluegrass winners R J P and Huntsville in the third division. By Rock N Roll Heaven out of the Badlands Hanover mare Tug River Princess, Rock The Boat has won two races in five starts this year, earning $70,551 for owners Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Mr Dana Parham. Trainer Ross Croghan will send him from post two.
R J P, by Somebeachsomewhere from the Dragons Lair mare Vysoke Tatry, tries for his third win in a row when trainer Erv Miller sends him from post seven. His recent wins in the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes Consolation in 1:52 and his Bluegrass division in 1:51.2 are his only wins this season in nine starts. He has earned $94,891 for owners David and John Prushnok, David J. Miller, and Lawrence Means.
Huntsville, the Ray Schnittker-trained son of Somebeachsomewhere from the Western Hanover mare Wild West Show, will race from post six for his fourth win in a row. He won his Bluegrass division in 1:53 as the 4-5 favourite, pacing home in :26.3. Winning four of seven starts, he has earned $260,484 for owners Ray Schnittker, Ted Gewertz, Charles Iannazzo and Steven Arnold.
Downbytheseaside races in the final division. The Brian Brown trainee enters off 1:52 wire-to-wire win as the 2-5 favourite in his Bluegrass division. By Somebeachsomewhere out of the Allamerican Native mare Sprig Hanover, he has won five of nine starts, earning $206,956 for owners Country Club Acres Inc., Joe Sbrocco, and Richard Lombardo. He’ll race from post seven.
