With his fifth-place finish in Saturday night's thrilling Breeders Crown Open Trot at Woodbine Racetrack, Arch Madness made Canadian harness racing history.

Two-time O’Brien Award winner Arch Madness became the richest Canadian-sired trotter after finishing five and a half lengths behind champion San Pail in the $602,340 event.

The seven-year-old trotting titan earned $30,117 for his fifth-place finish pushing his lifetime bankroll to a record $3,267,288. Peaceful Way held the previous record with career earnings totalling $3,245,055.

Arch Madness, a 2007 Breeders Crown champion, has won 27 races in 73 starts lifetime while under the care of trainer Trond Smedshammer. Eight of those wins came this year and included a victory in the Oslo Grand Prix in Sweden. His 1:50.2 speed badge taken this year in the Titan Cup at the Meadowlands Racetrack makes him the fifth fastest trotter in the history of harness racing.

The son of Balanced Image-Armbro Archer was bred by Steven Shapiro and owners Barry Goldstein (Willow Pond LLC) and Marc Goldberg.
