Winning driver Ron Pierce said a monkey could have driven Intimidate to victory in the $546,987 Breeders Crown final for three-year-old trotting colts on Saturday. Co-owner Judy Farrow disagrees.

"A monkey could have made a mistake," said Farrow, 71. "Ron drove him perfectly."

Intimidate's emphatic come-from-behind victory in the race was a delight on many levels, Farrow said today en route back to her farm in Hemmingford, Que. Her children Tracy, Trent and Kyra were at Woodbine to share the experience with her. She bred and raised the horse as well as co-owns him with trainer Luc Blais. The win confirmed his confidence in the trotter, and his horsemanship. They got back their $62,500 supplementary entry fee, and then some.

"And I had $50 on the nose," she chuckled.

That didn't pay much. Intimidate went off as 3-2 favourite in the race. But Farrow wasn't complaining.

"I couldn't believe how relaxed I felt. This whole thing has been totally incredible," she said. "We took pictures after of him munching on the trophy. He still looks like a little pony, and it's like he hadn't even raced."

The horse will now be rested until 2013, when the plan is to race him against North America's best aged trotters.
