KHRC Announces Number Of ‘14 Dates

On Tuesday, October 22, the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission approved the state’s 2014 race date calendar.

An article by the Lexington Herald-Leader states that the Red Mile will cut seven dates, leaving total standardbred dates at 58.

It was reported earlier this month that officials with the Red Mile had applied for roughly the same amount of 2014 race dates that the track has had this year, but some of the 2014 dates had been tentatively tagged as ‘optional.’ The report stated that the Red Mile would request seven optional Saturdays of racing, which would only be held if instant racing, which is also known as ‘historical racing,’ is ruled legal and can be offered at the Lexington raceway.
