Not even a wardrobe malfunction could keep Montreal Phil from finding his way to the winner’s circle in Thursday evening’s featured $13,000 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway

.

Montreal Phil, who was treated to a pocket trip by driver Stephane Gendron, stalked Chasin Racin through panels of :26.3, :56.2 and 1:24.2 before going on the offensive. A :29.1 final quarter was just enough for the seven-year-old son of Blissfull Hall-Matter Of Style to eke out the quarter of a length decision over that pacesetting foe in a time of 1:53.4. Nocturnal came on strong at the end of the mile to grab the show dough.

Guy Corbeil conditions the gelding, who won for the sixth time this season, for Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc of Hudson, QC. The 29-time winner has stashed away more than $243,000 to date.
