Travis Henry put the pedal to the metal with Rise Up Now in the opening night feature at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the Richard Moreau trainee didn’t look back en route to a sharp score in the $11,500 Preferred 2 for horse and gelding pacers.

Rise Up Now shot to the engine from Post 2 and powered his way through intervals of :27.4, :55.4 and 1:24.3 before coasting home in :31 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Jake Loewen in 1:55.3. Buckeroo rounded out the Trifecta ticket.

Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. owns the five-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Northwestern who won for the 21st time in his career. With more than $280,000 in lifetime earnings, the pacer has manufactured a 7-1-2 record from 27 starts in 2017.

Earlier on the card in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers it was Mister X going wire-to-wire in 1:55.4 for driver J Harris.

The Ken Oliver trainee powered to the top from Post 2 and laid down fractions of :27.4, :57.3 and 1:26 before scooting home in :29.4 to win by a head over even-money favourite Bugatti in 1:55.4. The show dough went to Saulsbrook Peach.
