Rose Run Ashton, Little Miss Jo Top Buckeye Yearling Sale

Trotting fillies Rose Run Ashton and Little Miss Jo topped the ninth annual Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the Champions Center Expo in Springfield, Ohio.

Rose Run Ashton (pictured above), Hip 29, and Little Miss Jo, Hip 225, received the highest bids of more than 200 yearlings to go through the sales ring, each selling for $50,000.

Rose Run Ashton was purchased by Pam Young for Big Dog Racing of Circleville, Ohio. Consigned by Rose Run Farm, the Uncle Peter filly is the first foal out of the Dejarmbro mare, Rose Run Value. Her dam is a half-sister to three six-figure earners, including Ohio Sire Stakes champion Rose Run Sydney ($597,703 - 1:54.1h) and multiple Ohio Sire Stakes division winner Rose Run Yanae ($393,288 - 1:54h).

Little Miss Jo was purchased by Allen Miller of Millersburg, Ohio. Consigned by Dublin Valley Farm, the filly is sired by Long Tom out of the Muscle Massive mare, Missive. Little Miss Jo is a full sister to Ohio Sires Stakes champion and Mohawk Million runner-up Tennessee Tom ($514,850 - 1:55.1f).

Hill Of A Cowboy, Hip 132, rounded out the top three highest priced yearlings of the sale, garnering a final bid of $48,000. The What The Hill gelding out of the New York Sire Stakes champion mare, Cowgirl Hall ($838,678 - 1:52.3f), was purchased from the Spurwood Farm consignment by Melvin Schmucker of Delray Beach, Florida.

A total of 228 yearlings were sold, grossing $2,694,950 and averaging $11,820.
