Adkins Hanover's debut at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park was cut short a week ago, but on Saturday (January 28), in what was the final race of the CDP’s 2017 winter meet, he turned out the lights on his rivals to score the feature race victory over the legendary oval.

After scoring from Post 7, the Ambyr Campbell trainee scorched to the opening split in :27.4 before opening up through a half in :56.1. The son of Western Ideal paced past the three-quarters pole in 1:26.1 before going on to score a multiple-length victory in 1:57.1.

Corey Macpherson handled the lines for owner Perry Burke of Quebec. The win gave Macpherson a hat trick on the card, as he also got Dusty Lane Zendaya back on the winning track and produced an Open Trot victory with Holy Mollie Maggie

The top driver on Prince Edward Island in 2016 closed out the 2017 winter meet with a statement. After having been absent last week, Marc Campbell recorded victories in Race 8 through 10 – with Beau Seelster, Hickory Chumley and Woodmere Articblue, respectively – and then clicked in Race 12 with the classy 10-year-old pacer Eagle Jolt, which also gave the horseman a training triple on the afternoon.

Gary Chappell scored a driving double on the card.

The wager on the afternoon card was $39,417.

Racing will return to the CDP on April 22.
