The milestone of 2,000 lifetime winning drives is at hand for driver Dan Clements.

On the Monday, January 24 program at Pompano Park, he piloted claiming pacer Western Artwork to victory in the fourth race. Pressing for the milestone, he was thwarted in his last two drives on the card in runner-up finishes with trotter Special Bay and claiming pacer Rare Display.

Clements, originally from Uxbridge, Ont. has resided seasonally in Pompano Beach for over 20 years. He'll mark his 47th birthday on January 27 and he's scheduled to appear in nine out of 12 races on the Tuesday program. His career driving purse earnings are in excess of $15.9 million and he counts an Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final title with trotting filly Corinas Mission as one of his top career highlights.
