OHHA has called a members’ meeting to update them on the OHHA/WEG racing contract situation.
The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the Best Western Milton Inn, 161 Chisholm Drive, Milton. WEG has not yet responded to OHHA’s request to set a date to resume negotiations.
The racing that is currently taking place is happening without a formal horsepeople’s contract. The purse calculation from betting on horse races is not guaranteed for a contracted term. It is set according to WEG’s absolute and sole discretion.
The members’ vote to withhold entries at Woodbine remains in place and all horsepeople are asked to respect that vote.
These and other issues will be discussed at the members’ meeting. OHHA urges all interested horsepeople to attend, remain informed and share your views with fellow horsepeople and your negotiating committee. As usual at members’ meetings a vote may be taken.
