Each year I always find it fascinating to learn to what stallion some of the sport’s top class mares were bred. For example, in my posting a few weeks ago, we learned that Bunny Lake, Burning Point, Cabrini Hanover, Loyal Opposition, and Rainbow Blue were among the mares bred to Somebeachsomewhere in his first season at stud.
You might find it interesting to know how a few other top mares were bred in 2009. I’ll list the mare and then her consort in parentheses:

Of course, any breeder knows that just because a mare was bred to a stallion doesn’t mean she got in foal or that she’ll have a live foal next year. In fact, it often seems that the best mares are the toughest breeders.
