The wheels are in motion to legalize single-game sports wagering in Canada, and WEG’s CEO Nick Eaves believes Woodbine and Mohawk are logical places for a sports betting facility

.

A bill has been proposed to legalize this type of wagering, and earlier this month a second reading was passed in the House of Commons.

“WEG has been actively supportive of this proposed Bill and our position is that if sports betting is allowed, it should be included at Woodbine and Mohawk Racetracks,” said WEG’s Nick Eaves. “Horse racing customers are sports bettors, generally.”

Reports have indicated between $10 and $80 billion is wagered annually on sports events in the nation.
