Participants from the 2016 Inter Conference took time to discuss harness racing in advance of the 2017 World Trotting Conference, hosted in Canada next August.

Senior executives of the International Trotting Association gathered at the Hilton Meadowvale in Mississauga, Ont. to discuss international issues and begin to prepare and plan for the 2017 World Trotting Conference and World Driving Championships, which will take place in Prince Edward Island in August, 2017.

Johan Lindberg, Secretary General for Swedish Trotting, was more than pleased to return to Canada for the Inter Conference meeting as the weekend coincided with the 2016 Maple Leaf Trot.

Lindberg noted that, after a few leaner years, the harness racing industry in Sweden is thriving and shows signs of positive growth. He'd like to see the international harness racing scene operate as a more cohesive collective.

"We're having a lot of possibilities in the harness industry for the world, and I think we should get more together because we're facing -- almost everywhere -- the same problems and we're facing -- almost everywhere -- the same opportunities and possibilities. We can make this [industry] even better."
