Gall Gets Inter Conference Underway

Standardbred Canada is proud to host the International Trotting Association Inter Conference meeting this weekend.

Senior executives of the ITA will come together to discuss international issues and begin to prepare and plan for the 2017 World Trotting Conference and World Driving Championships, which will take place in Prince Edward Island in August, 2017.

"This is an excellent opportunity for the SC team to meet the leaders of the international trotting industry and share best practices and provide updates on an international level," said Standardbred Canada President and CEO Dan Gall.

The meetings will take place in Mississauga, Ont. Racing officials from across the globe will convene to discuss the International Trotting Association’s constitution and regulation, as well as many other topics, which include equine health; welfare and integrity; marketing and business development; racing and wagering, and breeding.

Some of the attendees at the Inter Conference include Harness Racing Australia CEO Andrew Kelly, France’s Cheval Francais Racing Manager Guillaume Maupas, France’s Union Europeenne Du Trot Executive Secretary Isabelle Gizardin, Harness Racing New Zealand Chief Executive Edward Rennell, United States Trotting Association Executive VP and COO Mike Tanner, United States Trotting Association Director of Registry and Member Services T.C. Lane, and Johan Lindberg, who will be representing Nordic countries.

"We look forward to showcasing Canada to our International colleagues by promoting and presenting Canada's horse racing industry to the delegation and tying in Canada as the host of the 25th World Trotting Conference in 2017 at the Birthplace of Confederation in Charlottetown, PEI,” said Gall.

“Next year is very special for us, as we celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary and the 250th anniversary of horse racing in Canada. We are looking forward to sharing this on the international stage this weekend."
