Sugar Valley Farm is excited, as all Ohio harness racing should be, with the announcement that Santanna Blue Chip p,2, 1:51.3 will be standing in the Buckeye state for the 2013 season.

At two, Santanna Blue Chip showed early speed winning in 1:51.3 and banking $927,095, the most of any two-year-old against one of the greatest two-year-old crops in recent memory including Somebeachsomewhere. Santanna captured the Governors Cup and the Breeders Crown while posting a 5-4-2 summary in 11 freshman starts.

At three, Santanna Blue Chip was victorious in the Simcoe stakes and an elimination of the Art Rooney while stakes placed in the North America Cup, and in the elimination races in the Messenger, the Confederation Cup and the Little Brown Jug - the latter trio of races all contested over a half mile track. With slots on the horizon in Ohio, and the opportunities for horses on the half-mile track, Santanna Blue Chip is an ideal fit for Ohio and for Sugar Valley Farms.

A compact 15.2 and beautifully-gaited horse, Santanna Blue Chip possessed “a gameness and determination to win that all top horses have,” noted driver Jody Jamieson, who campaigned the son of Art Major throughout his stakes campaign. In addition, Santanna Blue Chip is the best priced son of Art Major standing in Ohio.

Last year, Santanna Blue Chip stood at Seelster Farms, Ontario where his first crop of two-year-olds hit the track this past summer. Windsong Jack p,2, 1:53.3 was among the best two-year-olds in Canada with a 5-4-1 summary in 11 starts with earnings in excess of $297,000.

Santanna Blue Chip will stand at the Sugar Valley Farms for an introductory stud fee of $3,000 with multiple mare discounts and loyalty programs available.

Ohio opened its first RACINO this past June but had applications for several more (RACINOS). This could be one of MANY top horses that Ontario will lose thanks to the Liberals & OLG.
