Multiple O'Brien Award winner San Pail recorded his first charted line in over a year during Mohawk Racetrack's qualifying session on Wednesday, August 28.

The career winner of over $3-million in purse earnings stepped onto the Campbellville course for fifth qualifier of the session.

In rein to pilot Randy Waples, the multiple stakes-winning son of San Pellegrino started from Post 5 and eased into the five-hole as Windsong Geant (driven by Rick Zeron) led the field to the :28.4 quarter pole.

Zeron and his mount continued to trot on the front end in the second panel and went on to click off the opening half-mile in :58.1 Waples and San Pail remained in fifth through the second quarter.

Still in fifth, Waples had angled San Pail to the outside as Zeron and 'Geant' passed the three-quarters marker in 1:28.

Zeron and Windsong Geant went on to win the qualifier by open lengths in 1:57.1. San Pail completed his mile by closing to third via a 29-second final quarter. San Pail was individually timed in 1:58.1.
