Major Dundee Wins Inverness Invitational

Major Dundee went wire-to-wire to win the featured $2,500 Johnny & Margaret Allan Ian Pace on Sunday afternoon at Inverness Raceway.

Driver and co-owner Randy Getto fired Major Dundee to the lead from post three in the final race of the day and rebuffed an early challenge from the parked out Art I Special (Redmond Doucet), last weekend's Inverness Gathering Pace champion, past the :28.3 opening panel.

He proceeded to lead the field to the half in :57.4 and three-quarters in 1:28 with Junebugs Baby (Fraser Turnball) edging out of the two-hole.

But once Major Dundee hit the top of the stretch, he opened up by two and a half lengths to secure the victory in 1:57 flat. Junebugs Baby stayed for second. Arabica (Aaron Byron) rallied three-wide around Art I Special to nab the show spot over 11 lengths behind.

Dana Getto trains the five-year-old Art Major gelding while Wayne Hardy of Sydney, N.S. shares ownership.

Major Dundee has earned top three finishes, including four wins, in all seven of his starts since moving to Nova Scotia for his new connections in June.
