Trot Insider has received an update in regard to the condition of driver Marc Fillion, who was hospitalized as a result of the injuries he suffered during a two-horse spill at the Miami Fair in Manitoba on Sunday afternoon

.

The third race accident occurred when Fillion’s charge, Alcars M D Spree, made a break and fell. St Lads Cadence, with Dallas McGee at the lines, was tracking that foe and fell after getting tangled up in the mishap.

Filion and McGee were both dumped from their racebikes. McGee was shaken up but fulfilled the rest of his commitments. Filion, however, was taken by ambulance to Boundary Trails Hospital and then transported to the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg with neck and back injuries.

SC Field Representative Carol Cullen has informed Trot Insider that Fillion has been released from the hospital and "there are no broken bones in his back as was feared."

Cullen also said that Fillion will have to wear a neck brace for a time, as well as being sidelined from driving.

She concluded by saying that the horses involved in the accident are both okay and are entered for races at Killarney next weekend.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Marc Fillion a speedy recovery.
