The owners of Bulldog Hanover, Jack Darling and Brad Grant, are excited to announce that Diamond Creek has purchased an interest in the stallion.   His future plans will now include a stallion career on Diamond Creek’s star-studded roster, while standing in Ontario in partnership with four-time Canadian Breeder of the Year, Seelster Farms.

Bulldog Hanover has made himself a household name with his world record breaking 1:45.4 win in the William R. Haughton Memorial at The Meadowlands.  Prior to this record feat, he paced in 1:46 in the Roll With Joe to match the world record, with wins in 1:46.1 (Graduate Series Final) and 1:47 (Graduate leg) comprising his July accomplishments.  His 2022 racing year has been one lightning strike after another, winning seven of his eight starts to date.  He has an illustrious lifetime career of 21 victories in 29 starts and more than $1.45 million in purses to date.

“Bulldog Hanover is as close to the perfect horse as I have ever been associated with,” said co-owner Jack Darling, “He is an awesome physical specimen with excellent manners and the heart of a champion. His speed, power and stamina are incredible.”

Bulldog Hanover has already proven to be a fertile stallion prospect for breeders. In 2022, while still in training, he bred a controlled book of 80 mares. Seelster Farms reported an exceptional 91 percent conception rate on shipped semen.

He is a son of Shadow Play out of the multiple stakes winning Artsplace mare BJs Squall, she a half-sister to the stallions Betterthancheddar (1:48, $1,636,086) and Courtly Choice (1:47.1, $1,432,697). Bulldog Hanover’s pedigree contains no common ancestors going back four generations, which makes him an excellent cross for a wide range of broodmares.

“We have wanted to have a Canadian stallion for years,” said Diamond Creek’s Adam Bowden, “It has been a matter of trying to find the right fit.  Bulldog Hanover is a tremendous horse, we are thrilled to be part of his story as it is being written.”

Diamond Creek has already begun planning for Bulldog Hanover’s stallion syndication and Seelster Farms will continue to handle all the day-to-day breeding management. Details concerning share purchases and service fee will be forthcoming in the near future.

“I am very excited to see what he can do as a sire. I truly believe that he will have a big impact on the breeding scene,” Darling added.

Mr. Darling, with the new ownership, do you plan for Bulldog to both race and breed again next year? The stakes season doesn't start until late May, and the breeding season is pretty much over with by then.
