Battle of Lake Erie winner Funatthebeach N made a big move in this week’s Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, going from fifth to first thanks to adding 140 points to his total from a week ago. Funatthebeach N, an eight-year-old male pacer, received 10 first-place votes, an increase of five, and 255 points in the Week 2 voting.
Six-year-old male trotter Ecurie D DK did not race and remained No. 2 in the poll. He received 12 first-place votes, the same as last week, and 251 points, an increase of 31.
Jimmy Freight, who topped the poll last week, dropped to third after finishing second in the Battle of Lake Erie. The seven-year-old male pacer actually added eight points from a week ago but saw his first-place votes drop from 12 to eight.
Completing the top five were four-year-old female pacer Test Of Faith and three-year-old male pacer Pebble Beach. Test Of Faith, who was ninth last week, won an elimination of the Roses Are Red while Pebble Beach, a newcomer to the Top 10, captured an elimination of the North America Cup.
There were two other newcomers to the Top 10, Lyons Sentinel and Bulldog Hanover. Lyons Sentinel, a five-year-old female pacer, won the other Roses Are Red elimination. Bulldog Hanover, a four-year-old male pacer, won the Free-For-All pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
