Trot Insider has learned that Ontario Racing Commission Senior Judge Rick Rier will be resigning from the ORC effective April 15.

A judge with the ORC for more than a decade, Rier leaves harness racing with a heavy heart.

"Given the current state of racing in general in Ontario, the time is right for me to explore other opportunities," said Rier.

My Favorite!!!

Growing up Rick was my favorite track announcer. His calls give me great memories like I get from The Hockey Night in Canada anthem. Starting out racing I would even enjoy hearing his voice when I got The Hanover Raceway answering machine.
During my career Rick has also been my favorite Judge. He always been All Class and very fair.
I thank Rick for the memories and I hope our paths continue to cross in some way. Best of Luck! DM

a decent man straight shooter,,,,intelligent and fair,,,,,,,where ever you land you will be an asset to society,,,,all the best Rick

Very grateful to Rick. He gave me the opportunity to announce at Hanover Raceway about a decade ago. He put up with my mishaps, and was a class act all the way....A loss for Racing.

Thanks Rick - and best wishes to you and your family.

It was always a pleasure to work with Rick whenever I was in the announcer's booth next door. All the best, Rick!

Good luck Rick....It always enjoyed working with you....BEST....Terry

It was good working with you Rick, i wish you and your family all the best.
