Trot Insider has learned that Hall of Famer and O'Brien Award winning driver Steve Condren has been spotted in Southern Florida and is preparing for a return to the sulky in the coming weeks

.

Condren, whose battle with cancer was featured in the September, 2011 issue of Trot Magazine, was given permission to travel by his doctor in early March.

Since then, he has been working with a personal trainer in Florida, as well as playing some golf in an effort to regain the strength he'll need to resume his driving duties.

If all goes according to plan, look for the familiar green and yellow colours of the man who has won 6,621 races and over $109-million in purses to be gracing the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit sometime this May.

Steve and I have been friends for 35 years. I was so happy to see some pictures of him training horses in Florida. You are a fighter Stevie and I have nothing but the utmost respect for you !

Very good news, I've been wondering about your health for the last little while, have not heard or seen any news on your condition, this was music to my ears, you CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN. All the best to you and yours. Ron

That's the best news I've heard in a long time. You're one of my all time fav's Steve. All the best in your return!

Steve is one of the nicest guys in the business. I feel confident he will make it all the way back.Just yesterday he trained a trotting filly and was told to go 207. He went 207.2 . Off an entire yr and he still has the feel most drivers never have.To be even more impressive,he also shot 81 at a very tough adios golf course.Amazing when one knows he was hospitalized as recently as a month ago.I hope owners and trainers give him the opportunity to prove he can still be one of the best in the business.
