Richard Moreau, one of Canada’s top trainers, recently purchased a farm and training centre in Southern Ontario and has settled most of his Toronto-based stock into their new home for the 2010 racing season

.

Moreau purchased the training centre from former ORC licensee Colm James McNulty last month with trainer Garth Henry of Ottawa.

The veteran horseman, who previously rented stalls at Classy Lane Training Centre, has since settled 16 of his 25 pupils into one of the two barns on the 45 acre property, which is located approximately 10 minutes from Mohawk Racetrack.

Trot Insider wishes to clarify that Moreau did not purchase the Emerald Isle Training Centre owned by Alan Wallace. Moreau's Freelton-area property includes a large home with wraparound porch, in-ground pool, a horse track and a 16-stall main barn as well as several smaller outbuildings

“I use one barn and I rent out the other,” Moreau told Trot Insider. “Right now it's all rented out, but the people come and go. I have some people from Sudbury and some people from Indiana. They start back next month so I’m ready to accommodate whoever, it’s not a problem.”

Richard Moreau is a top trainer of aged horses. I'm sure that he will appreciate being closer to the action and having an equity position in real estate is a wise move for him. I wish him luck.
