Sizzlen Hot Herbie Wires Up Preferred Foes

After missing the board in back-to-back starts in the Preferred ranks at Flamboro Downs, Sizzlen Hot Herbie trotted into London and scooped up all the marbles in Monday’s $13,000 Preferred Handicap.

Sizzlen Hot Herbie found himself in unfamiliar territory – the front end – in the early stages of the mile and once he made the lead he refused to look back.

The eight-year-old son of Here Comes Herbie-Six Red rolled the group through fractions of :28.3, :59.4 and 1:28.4 before using a closing panel of :29 to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Heavy Dude E in 1:57.4.  Hot Fudge Sundae was third in the six-horse affair.

Owned, trained and driven by Natasha Day of Beachville, Ont., the gelding improved his 2022 record to 6-4-3 from 25 starts with the win.  Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Sizzlen Hot Herbie pushed his lifetime earnings to $227,770 with the victory.
