Reports indicate that Ontario's provincial Liberal government is "shopping around" the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and will sign deals with two financial institutions to perform preliminary research on privatizing the Crown corporation

.

According to an article in today's Toronto Star, Premier Dalton McGuinty is "displeased" by the OLG's performance and some insiders point to the recent appointment of Paul Godfrey as OLG's Chair that there could be a sell-off.

Sources close to The Star "confirmed that a small contract would soon be signed with CIBC World Markets and Goldman Sachs to research the value of Crown assets."

The OLG operates the slots-at-racetracks program in Ontario.
