Summerside To Receive $275K Upgrade

It was announced today that $275,000 in upgrades will be coming to Summerside Raceway

.

According to a report by The Guardian, the upgrades were announced by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency's minister of state Keith Ashfield, minister of fisheries and oceans Gail Shea, and Summerside mayor Basil Stewart.

The article states that Ottawa is investing $210,000 in Summerside through the Community Adjustment Fund and the city of Summerside is contributing $65,000.

The upgrades are reported to include a new paddock barn with 27 stalls, a testing facility, washrooms and office space.

“Harness racing is an important industry on Prince Edward Island," Stewart was quoted as saying. “On behalf of city council, I would like to thank the federal government for their commitment to this infrastructure in Summerside.”

if only the nova scotia government would realize the importance of the racing industry in the province.this could be a viable and entertaining business. if the right group of people in racing would develop a plan.
