It was a productive night at the office for driver James MacDonald during Friday’s 10-race card at
MacDonald got away second with So Much More, who was sent off as the 1-5 favourite. The Don Beatson trainee watched Voelz Delight hit the quarter pole in :27.4 before giving way to So Much More in the backstretch.
So Much More then sailed through middle panels of :56.2 and 1:24.4 before using a :28-second final frame to win by three-quarters of a length over Voelz Delight in 1:52.4. Taking home third prize in the six-mare affair was Dabarndawgswatchin.
Trainer Don Beatson co-owns the 55-time winner with Kenn Beatson and Cole England, and to date the mare has racked up purse earnings totalling $1,182,255. She now boasts a 14-8-3 record from 31 trips to the track this season.
As for MacDonald, the remainder of his success on the Friday evening card came in the form of victories with Raptors Won (1:53.1), Kickupyaheels N (1:52.2), Im On The Edge (1:53.1) and Better Sunset (1:53.3).
