Mohawk Preferred To Easy Lover Hanover

Odds-on favourite Easy Love Hanover cruised to the point and maintained control through the finish to take the $34,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Driver Doug McNair sent the Ben Wallace trainee from post 8 towards the top heading to a :26.4 opening quarter while Nirvana Seelster yielded for the pocket. Easy Lover Hanover led uncontested through a :55.3 half but faced pressure around the final turn as Brave World, moving from sixth, advanced uncovered towards the front with Royal Renegade in tow.

Past three-quarters in 1:24.1, Easy Lover Hanover turned away Brave World’s bid but endured a late rush from Royal Renegade kicking off cover. Easy Lover Hanover hit the finish one-and-a-quarter lengths better than Royal Renegade while Nirvana Seelster settled for third.

A six-year-old gelding by Somebeachsomewhere, Easy Lover Hanover won his seventh race from 19 starts this season and his 41st from 103 overall, earning $975,369. Brad Grant owns the $3.60 winner.
