Want More Racing On TV? Here's Great News

In a highly significant development for American racing, DISH television network yesterday announced it has entered into a long-term agreement with Racetrack Television Network (RTN) and HorseRacing TV (HRTV) for creation of a subscription racing package

.

To cost $49.99 a month, the service, which expects to launch in September, will offer a subscription package called Racetrack Television Network, which will include up to 80 channels of live greyhound, thoroughbred, quarter horse and harness racing.

As proposed, each racetrack in the package will have its own dedicated channel, allowing viewers to watch the same live, uninterrupted simulcast feed as is shown in commercial wagering establishments. That feed will include full wagering information, paddock shots and post parades, and -- depending on time of year -- could include as many as 700 live races daily.

DISH also will offer a $29.99 package, called Best of RTN, which will consist of live simulcast feeds of 12 of the top RTN tracks running at any given time.

I already get the racing channels, AND WHY in the world would I want to watch greyhound racing. Until they clean up the animal cruelty that goes hand in hand with that "sport", you can count me out. Perfectly happy with HPI on Bell Express Vu thank you very much.
