The Ontario horse racing industry was well represented at Toronto’s Horse Day, hosted by the Ontario Equestrian Federation (OEF) at the Horse Palace at Exhibition Place.

Thousands of visitors attended the fourth edition of this free event, which was held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Canada’s Driver of the Year Sylvain Filion and Hall of Fame jockey Sandy Hawley joined Olympic Show Jumper Jennifer Foster in the VIP autograph signing area and were kept busy for several hours signing autographs and chatting with guests.

Dianne Graham, Executive Director for the OEF, made a presentation to Filion following the Canadian Road Horse demonstration by Armbro Beau and Steve McLean.

Filion's O’Brien Award trophy was on display as well as the Queen’s Plate trophy.

The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame featured Cam Fella and Northern Dancer memorabilia at their exhibit and Woodbine Entertainment Group’s display promoted the North America Cup and Queen’s Plate. The Famous Horses exhibit featured Hall of Famers Cam Fella and Northern Dancer along with legendary show jumpers Big Ben and Hickstead.

Several horse breed associations had displays and Standardbred Canada’s Trot 4 Kids publications and resources were handed out at the Children’s Activity Area. Equimania was also a busy area for the thousands of children who came out for the day.

Equine photography workshops, blacksmith demonstrations, horse health workshops, tours of the Toronto Police Services Mounted Unit’s stables, riding demonstrations and more contributed to a great event.
