Want To Jog Around The Big M?
For the first time, human athletes will get the chance to run around the Meadowlands Racetrack in a 5K to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on Saturday, June 23.
The 5K will kick off at 3:00 p.m. and it is just $25 to enter (fee includes event t-shirt, post-race party with live music, prize drawings and other activities). All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Registration can be done online at active.com through 11:59 p.m. on June 22.
The event is a sanctioned 5K and prizes will be awarded. Men's and Women's division winners will receive FREE running shoes courtesy of Road Runner Sports of Paramus, NJ (Rt. 4 West). Water stations are being provided by North Jersey Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Institute of Clifton. Showers and locker room facilities are available.
The Ladies Night post-race party, presented by 95.5 WPLJ FM, is open to everyone. Festivities include live music from 4:00 p.m. through the end of racing, prize drawings and giveaways. Drink specials for ladies, featuring Flip Flop Wine and Rum, will be available all night long. Fans can also sign up for the Flip Flop Rum Run, a flip-flop race over the grass, which benefits international shoe charity Soles4Souls.
The third annual Lisa Photo Stride for the Cure harness race will be run that evening. Horses and drivers in the race will use pink equipment that will be auctioned for charity. The harness race was founded by Meadowlands track photographer Michael Lisa and his wife, Annette, a breast cancer survivor. The Lisas live in Montvale, NJ.
