Trot Insider has learned that former Gold Cup & Saucer champion Part Shark was euthanized after suffering a catastrophic injury before his race Friday night

at Western Fair District.

Secret Weapon Stables' Part Shark put together a career record reading 25-21-12 in 100 starts while banking $366,425 in purses. Among his biggest wins were the 2010 Gold Cup & Saucer in a career-best 1:51, which still stands as the all-age track record at Charlottetown Driving Park, and the 2010 City of Greater Sudbury Pace in 1:52.4, which was an all-age track record at the time.

The six-year-old Four Starzz Shark-Pop Art gelding was trained by Mark Austin as a youngster before moving into Wayne Preszcator's care for the remainder of his career.

This fine animal will certainly be remembered by the thousands of Cup and Saucer fans who witnessed his moment of glory . To his human partners in this great adventure we call horse racing , my deepest condolences . Parick McWade.

Sadly, whenever I see the name Part Shark, I think of the late Jim Lehman who was part owner and extremely proud of Part Shark's accomplishments, especially in Charlottetown and Sudbury. May they both rest in peace.
