Delgado Dominates At Flamboro

Delgado

Delgado delivered a dominant performance to score in the $9,000 featured conditioned trot, which highlighted the 11-race card at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Jan. 7.

Leaving from post two in the scratched down field of six, driver Scott Young wasted no time getting position with the 3-5 favourite, allowing Sicario and Brett MacDonald to clear to the lead off the first turn before retaking at the quarter pole in :28.1. Young tapped the brakes on the way to the halfway point as the trotters remained in straight alignment, reaching the half in :58. Cunning Connie and Travis Cullen were the first to move from third, racing on the outside of Sicario for the second spot as Delgado opened up by 2-1/4 lengths on the lead at three-quarters in 1:27.1. Delgado's lead continued to expand in the stretch, powering home in :29.1 to secure the victory by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:56.2. Sicario held for the place position, with Cunning Connie finishing third.

The victory was the first of 2024 in two starts for the Bob Young trainee. Owned by Pollack Racing, the five-year-old gelded son of Trixton-Ruling Class has now earned $211,285 for his career, securing seven victories across 53 lifetime starts.
