Prohibition Legal Sharpens At Mohawk

Prohibition Legal

A scratch from her Breeders Crown elimination at Harrah's Hoosier Park a week ago, Prohibition Legal returned to action north of the border during the session of qualifiers on Friday, Oct. 27 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Louis-Philippe Roy asked the speedy four-year-old to set all the fractions during the first qualifier on Friday, and that's exactly what she did. Sauntering to the opening quarter in :31.1 while hitting the half in 1:00, Prohibition Legal stepped it up in the back half of the mile with matching :27.2 splits to trip the timer in 1:54.4. Hail Christian N (Jody Jamieson) sat the deuce the entire mile and finished just a touch more than two lengths in arrears. Camara Moment flashed good late speed for driver Doug McNair, closing to finish third in his first charted mile since the 2023 Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup at the end of May.

Nick Gallucci trains Prohibition Legal (Big Jim - Catch A Wish) for Millar Farms. Gallucci told Trot Insider that the mare spiked a temperature on the day she was slated to ship stateside with stablemate Silver Label for the Breeders Crown elims. She's been excellent since, and Friday's mile reinforces that assessment.

While the Breeders Crown is now out of the question, Prohibition Legal could still target some late season stakes with the TVG / FanDuel Championships at The Meadowlands a possibility next month.

There is still a possibility Prohibition Legal could reach millionaire territory this year as well. The mare boasts a $955,366 bankroll courtesy a 10-7-2 summary from 21 lifetime starts.
