No Contest Declared In Grand River Finale

Racing at Grand River Raceway

Grand River Raceway's 10-race card ended with a No Contest as the finale was marred by a spill.

The accident occurred in the 10th race for claiming mares when Cranberry Brie (Nick Boyd) broke stride from the two-hole near the third quarter mark causing interference to the pacers that were following in behind along the pylons, including T C Scandal (Colin Kelly), Watch Me Dance (Anthony Haughan) and Fear The Smoothie (Preston Shaw), who fell and unseated his driver.

All horses and drivers involved exited the track without injury, according to Chad Rozema, Racing Manager at Grand River Raceway.

The nine-horse race was declared a No Contest by the judges with $18,301 in wagers refunded.
