Donatover

Donatover won the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway for the second week in a row on Thursday evening  (May 11).

Stephane Brosseau and Donatover got away last in the field of seven and at the opening panel, the pair was 9-1/2 lengths off the leader. Seeyou Men (Guy Gagnon) controlled the tempo throughout most of the mile. As the field reached the half in :57, Donatover began to close the gap between himself and the leading Seeyou Men. By the three-quarters in 1:25.2, Donatover was third over, following behind Crossfit (Jimmy Gagnon) and Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot). Still sitting fifth around the final turn, Donatover had to kick into second gear to rush by the field and win by a neck in 1:55.1. Seeyou Men was second and Duke Lavictoire (Jacques Beaudoin) was third. Donatover paid $10.50 to win.

Donatover now has six wins and two seconds in 14 starts this season. Owned and trained by John MacMillan, the eight-year-old son of Donato Hanover moved his career earnings to $383,786 with 37 wins.
