Logan Park Tops Preferred Foes In Return Race

Logan Park

There was no rust on the shoes of the high profile trotter Logan Park on Monday evening, as he won impressively in the $32,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park in what was his first start since a runner-up effort in the Preferred Trot on Dec. 5, 2022

Handled by Doug McNair, who guided the gelding to set of qualifying wins in preparation for the return to the races, Logan Park got away fifth while the parked out Pikachu Hanover and Oney Hall zipped by the quarter-pole in :28.1.  Pikachu Hanover worked his way to the top, but Oney Hall came right back around that foe to reclaim the lead going into the backstretch.

Oney Hall then supplied middle panels of :58 and 1:26.3 before feeling heavy pressure from the favourite, Logan Park.  McNair wheeled his charge first over around the final turn and steadily gained on Oney Hall.  Logan Park’s final quarter of :27.1 was enough to earn him the win by a half-length margin over the late-driving Patriarch Hanover in 1:54.2.  Oney Hall faded late to finish third.

With the ear plugs still in, Logan Park posted the 13th victory of his career for owners/breeders Outofthepark Stable, Reg Higgs and Arpad Szabo. The five-year-old son of Archangel-Rite Outa The Park, who was sent off as the 1-2 favourite in the eight-horse affair for trainer Kyle Fellows, watched his lifetime earnings climb to $736,222.
