More Atlantic Sires Stakes Details Announced

Irish Ray winning the 2022 Atlantic Breeders Crown

The 2023 Atlantic Sires Stakes (ATSS) season will start when the three-year-old fillies go behind the gate at Truro Raceway on June 11.

The next stop for ATSS action will kick off the Lobster Carnival Week at Summerside Raceway starting July 11. Along with the three-year-olds, the two-year-olds will make their Atlantic Sires Stakes debut.

Five tracks -- Charlottetown Driving Park, Inverness Raceway, Northside Downs, Truro Raceway and Summerside Raceway -- will host ATSS events throughout the summer.

Pacing colts and fillies in the A division and trot events will look to earn points towards securing a sought-after spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships. Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend will take place Oct. 7-8 at Charlottetown Driving Park.

New for 2023, there will be an updated point system for the "A" divisions for pacing colts and fillies and trotters.  Horses will be allowed an opportunity to participate in the Championship in order of priority based on points accumulated in "A" pacing events and trot events. Points this season will be awarded as follows: first place - nine points, second place - seven points, third place - six points, fourth place - five points, fifth place - four points, sixth place - three points, seventh place - two points, eighth place - one point.
