Lucas NL Lands In Flamboro Feature

Flamboro Downs racing action

Richard Moreau trainee Lucas NL got to the front and held that position strongly to lead an exacta for the stable in the $10,000 featured trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday night (Feb. 12).

Driver Brett MacDonald sent Lucas NL to the lead from post two while stablemate Sicario secured the pocket to a :28.1 first quarter. Odds-on favourite Buckys Angel began a first-over bid from fourth past a :59 half and loomed closer to the pacesetter nearing three-quarters in 1:29.1. Lucas NL continued with his momentum into the stretch and scooted to a two-length victory in 1:59.3 with Sicario snagging second from Buckys Angel.

Pieter Delis owns Lucas NL, a five-year-old gelding by Quite Easy. The gelding won his fifth race from 40 starts and has now earned $61,655. He paid $10.40 to win.

As the only harness track running in North America on Super Bowl Sunday, gamblers none the less paid plenty of patronage through the Flamboro windows. In 10 races, Flamboro handled $834,133.
