Volstead Book Full And Closed For 2023

Volstead winning in Europe

Dublin Valley Farms has announced the 2023 book for its top trotting stallion, Volstead, 6, 1:51.2 ($729,716), is full and closed.

Volstead (Cantab Hall – Madame Volo – Yankee Glide) was bred in the USA and was trained and raced in Europe where he won the Swedish Cup and was a Group 1 Invitational winner.

A record price of $170,000 for a harness racing trotting yearling sold in the state of Ohio was set last September at the Ohio Selected Jug Sale and the yearling was sired by Volstead. The sale topper was Hip 103, Idas First Dance, a filly who was a first foal from a full sister to 2017 Ohio Three-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, Rose Run Sydney, 4, 1:54.1 ($597,703).

“We are very proud that Volstead’s yearlings averaged $67,333,” noted Robert Hershberger, owner of Dublin Valley Farms.  “His yearlings looked the part and were well received by the trainers and the buyers.”

“I want to thank all the breeders for their support, and the yearling buyers who supported his first crop of foals,” said Dean Miller, owner of Volstead.

Volstead stands at Dublin Valley Farms in Fredericksburg, Ohio for a stud fee of $4,500. For more information, visit dublinvalleyfarms.com.
