Stash The Cookies winning at Century Downs

Track record holder Stash The Cookies returned to the Century Downs winner's circle after dominating her Preferred rivals on Friday (Sept. 30).

Returning to winning form after setting the 1:51.2 track record for pacing mares back on Aug. 13, Stash The Cookies set fractions of :28, :56.2 and 1:25.1 while building up a seven-length margin heading into the stretch then cruised home to score in 1:54.4 for trainer/driver Logan Gillis.

The six-year-old Sunfire Blue Chip-Saucy B mare, who paid $11.50 as the 9-2 third choice, won the $13,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace by five lengths over favourites Betcha Baby (Brandon Campbell) and If Only Id Known (Nathan Sobey). 

A 10-time winner from 24 starts this season, Stash The Cookies has banked $87,496. The victory was her 20th and boosted her lifetime stash to $212,649. She is owned by Derek Gilbert of Brandon, Man.
