Euchred Delivers Wire-to-Wire Win In Inverness Feature

Euchred

Euchred went wire-to-wire to come up victorious in the $1,700 Winners Over feature at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday (July 20).

With driver Redmond Doucet at the controls, Euchred left from Post 4 and battled with favourite Thunder Alley (Douglas Mac Quarrie) for top spot right from the get-go.

Euchred, the second choice, managed to get to the front of the five-horse field with an opening quarter of :27.4, and was followed by Thunder Alley and Betterthanbutter (Zachary Mullins).

The son of Shadow Play-Tipsy Taters continued to lead the competition through splits of :56.4 and 1:26.3, and he didn't let up. He cruised to score a 1:56.3 win, three lengths in front of Thunder Alley.

J Gs Fireball (Travis MacLean) was elevated to third place after Betterthanbutter was penalized.

Euchred won his third race in seven starts this year for trainer Walter Walker and owner Kayla Habicht Walker of Inverness, N.S. The 10-year-old gelding has 72 career victories and $153,390 in lifetime earnings.

The win paid $4.30.
